people waiting to be reese cscu. rockaways, where the residents had to deal with rain and wind as well as fires. that rescue started during the night. >> what's your biggest concern across the state right now? a six-alarm fire. >> it's hard to tell. we haven't had daylight to the new york fire department, assess all of the damage. saving some 60 homes. we have a battered jersey shore. 200 firefighters battling this overnight. overnight, something very difficult to fight because of the winds and the houses are we have cities without power closely packed together. because of flooding at the abc news' jim debrill was on the newark bay area. we have 2.4 million people scene of the fire in queens. this is what he described. without power across the state. >> reporter: this is a community this is a major disaster. we're trying to save as many that lost the most people during lives as possible. 9/11. the firefighters and cons during with an urban search and rescue teams on the shore and in berten 9/11. this area was hit horribly tonight. many expected there would be flooding. and then, the fire just erupted. county. we were in a home and fire was we have over 200 state roads right across from us. closed. as this fire just spread, we this is a significant storm. waited our way to another home. and then, realized, a parking lot we were next to, the cars started to blow up.
